Have you ever erred?

Perhaps! The writer of this article has erred many times: he is a mere mortal (mero mortal).

To “err” is to make a mistake, to sin (pecar), or to be mistaken (equivocarse). Let´s look at some examples:

  • To err is human (errar es de humanos). This is a proverb.
  • We must err on the side of caution when voting in the election (debemos pecar por exceso de precaución…debemos pecar de piadoso/cauteloso…).
  • Mr. Corbyn erred when he said Mr. Johnson was not clever (…erró cuando dijo que…).
  • Alejandro erred in his choice of a Ferarri (…erró en su elección de un Ferrari).
