To Allocate

Mortals (mortales) allocate (asignar, repartir) things or tasks to other mortals or organisations. Resources, seats and tasks “are allocated”.
Study these examples:

• Mr. Sánchez, the Spanish Prime Minister, has allocated (ha asignado, ha destinado) a lot of your money to create a Spanish NASA by 2050.

• Please allocate 15 minutes for the Cambridge Advanced Reading part 1 task.

• Please do the tasks within the time allocated (…dentro el plazo concedido/establecido).

The noun is allocation (reparto/asignación). Mortals often receive an allocation (racion, cuota) of time to do a task, time to do a tax return (la declaración de la renta), or an allocation of tickets for an opera.
